The Farmers Arms Hotel

One of the most well established hotel and restaurants in Daylesford, the Farmers Arms hotel has been welcoming visitors and locals alike since 1857

The Farmers Arms Hotel is located on the roundabout of East Street and Midland Highway and proudly welcomes visitors into Daylesford. The hotel is set-up in three sections with a front bar, a restaurant and a beautiful courtyard for drinks on a summers day.

The front bar is open daily from midday till late and is a locals hang-out for most of the afternoon. The pub-restaurant serves a combination of pub classics such as a roast pork belly (which is delicious, btw) and fish and chips combined with some Asian inspired dishes like the “miso glazed Japanese pumpkin”.

Our absolute favourite it to sit amongst the locals at the front bar and order some starters, like the local Istra salami or prosciutto or the saganaki combined with a local Pinor Noir or drop of your choice.

Lunch is served daily from midday until 3pm and the Farmers Arms is open for dinner from 5.30 till 9pm daily. The restaurant is often fully booked, so make sure you make a reservation in advance on their website.

A new addition to The Farmers Arms is “The Farmers Kitchen”, an exclusive private dining room for groups between 8 and 12 people, serving a 6 course degustation menu that showcases ingredients from Daylesford and surrounds. While we haven’t experienced this new edition just yet, the pubs website promises local produce and wine.

The Farmers Kitchen is available from Wednesday till Saturdays for a long lunch at $140 per person. Bookings are required via their website.

The Farmers Arms have several rooms and suites available in the Art Motel, right across the road. Much more on the Daylesford Art Motel here.

Dog Friendly

The Farmers Arms has a great courtyard at the back of the restaurant where you can have a drink or even dine, if you don’t want to let your pooch alone. Entry is via the car park (make sure that the rest of the party enters via the main entrance to secure a table) and in winter you can ask for a gas heater to keep you warm.
