The Surly Goat

Hidden on a dead-end back street of Hepburn Springs is one the area’s best fine-dining restaurant.

One of our (if not the) absolute favourite restaurant in the area is The Surly Goat. Hidden on a dead-end back street on the side of the Palais Theatre, this restaurant doesn’t look like much on the outside.

Even after you’ve entered the main restaurant, this may look like your average unassuming bistro. The food you’re about to have however, will take you on a culinary rollercoaster fuelled by innovation and locally sourced produce.

The Surly Goat exclusively serves a daily changing “prix fixe” four course menu of around 8 to 10 smaller dishes that you will share with your fellow table guests.

Drinks? Don’t order your usual and ask for a recommendation from the team at the Surly Goat. They will blow you away with something perfectly paired with your next dish.

The Surly Goat is open Thursday till Saturday for dinner from 5pm onwards and for lunch and dinner on Saturday. Reservations are required and as it is one of the best restaurants in the area, they almost always book out well in advance.

Reservations can only be made by phone on 03 5348 4628. If you were too late to get a reservation in the restaurant – try and walk-in for an early dinner at 5pm (on the dot) for a seat at the bar.

Follow The Surly Goat on Instagram to see some of the beautiful dishes that are served every week.
