The Cosmopolitan Hotel

The Cosmopolitan Hotel is a landmark on the high street of Trentham, located on a short 20 minute drive from Daylesford and one of those must visit places for the region. whether it be for an afternoon drink by the fire or in the courtyard or one of their famous wood fired pizzas.

Inside you’ll find a typical country pub in the front bar where you can join the locals for a beer or a glass of wine. Directly off that are several rooms that form the dining room with numerous fire places and a typical country feel.  When the weather allows, the Cosmo’s elaborate courtyard is just perfect to sit down and relax with friends and family.

The building was built circa 1866, but in 2005 the pub was significantly damaged due to a fire. Between 2009 and 2012, the building was restored to its former glory and reopened as Trentham’s premier country pub.

Despite being named The Cosmopolitan, that particular cocktail isn’t what this pub is known for. The menu is gastro-pub style with classics such as pork belly, different steak and pasta dishes. And as already mentioned, The Cosmopolitan is known for their delicious wood fired pizza.

The Cosmo is a fantastic supporter of other local businesses, so the drinks list is lined with local wines, beers and cider (they even serve Daylesford Cider on tap). If you liked one of the local wines and want some to take home, they will sell them to you by the bottle from one of the shelfs in the restaurant.

Lunch is served Wednesday to Sunday from 12 till 3pm and dinner is served Wednesday until Saturday from 5.30 until 8.30pm. You will definetley need to make a reservation for table inside which you can do by calling 03 5424 1516. If you’re staying in Trentham and looking for a good pizza takeaway, the Cosmo has a limited takeaway menu which you can find on their website.

Dog Friendly

The beautiful Cosmopolitan Beer Garden and Alfresco dining are dog friendly. There is an entrance on the side of the garden, but don’t forget to go inside first to see if a table is available.
