Daylesford Chamber Music Festival – A feast of Music 2022

For the eight time, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra returns to Daylesford in the beginning of September for a long weekend of musical performances for the Daylesford Chamber Music Festival. Under the banner of “A Feast of Music 2022”, classical music lovers are in for a treat with four performances at Daylesford Town Hall and a stunning musical experience at Daylesford’s well known Lake House Restaurant.


Ensemble Liaison


The Daylesford Chamber Music Festival will be opened by Ensemble Liaison. The ensemble formed by Timothy Young (pianist), David Griffiths (clarinet) and Svetlana Bogosavljevic (cello) has been performing for over 15 years together.

Ensemble Liaison will be performing Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires and Beethoven’s classic clarinet trio.

DVOŘÁK Piano Quartet


Leading pianist Stefan Cassomenos joins the musicians of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra for a recital of Dvořák’s early first piano quartet. In addition, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra has commissioned a new work for piano quartet by celebrated Melbourne composer Linda Kouvaras.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons


The Melbourne Chamber Orchestra is performing Vivaldi’s colourful Four Seasons masterpiece in Daylesford alongside four soloists. During this performance the MCO will also perform Calvin Bowman’s Daylesford Music, which was commissioned by donors of the festival.

Kerry & Mozart Quintets


The festival will close with a piece by Victorian composer Gordon Kerry. A bright piece that has won a series of awards, including Instrumental Work of the Year in 2013; prismatic String Quintet No 1. The finale comprises of Mozart’s fourth string quintet.

Chamber Music Dining at The Lake House


The highlight of the festival is the Chamber Music Dining event at the Daylesford legend The Lake House Restaurant. Join one of the best restaurants in Australia for a three course meal, pre-dinner canapés and performances by clarinettist David Griffiths and other Melbourne Chamber Orchestra musicians.
